I would advise Baruch to establish a larger social media presence
in the new age of new media. Baruch has social media accounts, but they should
try to significantly grow their following and audience. Baruch is not as well known
outside of New York as many other universities. Social media is the largest
growing platform for communication and would be a great tool to reach out to
new audiences. Baruch can invest by hiring more marketing professionals as well
as competing in international business competitions. This would significantly raise
Baruch’s brand. Social media is the best way to expand your reach and baruch
should take advantage of this growing opportunity.
An interesting idea of new media is to create a social network specifically for gamers. The new media platform would have chats for gamers to connect, pages to post pictures or videos of their game content, and a comment and like section to respond to each post. There can even be a facetime-like feature on the social network so gamers can connect and play games together. One interesting feature that the social network can include are stories such as the ones on Snapchat and Instagram. This will create a new media for gamers that contains a good mix of features from Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook. The gaming industry is growing more and more every year, especially professionally gaming. Gamers communicate a lot through their headset, but it would be great if there can be a platform to connect gamers when they are not actually playing video games. Gaming is an expansive industry in need of a new media to make communication easier and better.
I feel the same thing about Baruch Media. Actually Baruch is really a good business school and very famous in CUNY. However, not much of people from outside know about Baruch that much or even don't know Baruch's exist.
